Inflation applies to the tooth fairy . . .

Ok, so this picture has nothing to do with the post, but I added it for family to see. This is our nephew on Jeremy's side, Josh, playing with Clara on Thanksgiving Day. We rarely see his side of the family, and we really rarely get pictures of it, so I had to put this on there.
Ok, now to what I wanted to say:
So, apparantly, we have a generous tooth fairy around here. Darius came home Monday with a tooth in his hand, so we had him put it under his pillow that night. Jeremy decided to give him a zip-lock bag with about $2 worth of coins in it, partly just to be fun, but also because we have a bunch of spare change in our little jar that is getting full. I was fine with that and celebrated the next morning with Darius when he found it. We talked about the possibility of getting something at the dollar store later this week, and maybe thinking of something to get for his mom for Christmas.

Then, Tuesday night, he goes to bed and comes back down about 20 minutes later with a tooth in his and AGAIN! (No blood, by the way . . . . surprised me) He put it under his pillow, but Jeremy and I were really tired and not feeling well, so we totally forgot about it. He comes back down in the morning with his tooth in his hand and an odd look on his face . . not necessarily disappointed, more confused. I said, "Oh, man! I totally forgot to tell you that the tooth fairy can't come to the same house two nights in a row because she's just too busy. Put it under there tonight and she'll be back tonight." He was satisfied with that answer. Last night, Jeremy proposed a gift of 2 dollar bills, and I thought that was way too much . . I mean, sheesh, I got maybe a quarter when I lost teeth as a kid! (Of couse, a quarter when a lot further back then . . I could get, like FIVE "laffy taffies" for that . . . !) Anyway, I told him ONE dollar bill would be plenty.

Darius came downstairs this morning proudly displaying TWO dollar bills. Jeremy followed him down the stairs and got a "look" from me. :) This is the same man who thinks he needs to tip at restaurants around 30% instead of 15% and who also pays about $15 for a haircut that is really worth about $8-10. I love him, though . . . he's just as generous to me!`

But, on a related note . . . both boys are, most likely, leaving within the next week. Xavier is going to a placement where he has been twice for respite care and I think he'll do really well there. He is probably going on Sunday. Darius might be going to a home that is actually near our house and he wouldn't have to switch schools. It will, most likely, be within a week or two. Pray for them and that transition. Pray also for their mom, who seems to be losing interest.

On a completely other note: Clara is pretty much walking now . . it is not her primary mode of transportation yet, but she can walk across a room with very deliberate, effortful (is that a word?) steps. I would put a video of it on here, but she, at this point, won't walk for an audience or the video camera! :)
