Lovin' the Valentine's Day

One of our V-Day picture attempts
My parents on their Anniversary, right before taking off on their date!

I absolutely LOVE almost all holidays, especially now that I'm a stay-at-home mom with a three-year old who loves to have things to look forward to. She is still pretending that it is Christmas time during her pretend play, we had fun learning about Groundhog's Day, and we have done a TON of Valentine's Day activities for about 3 weeks now. Now, I'm looking for activities/books/crafts for not only St. Patrick's Day, but trying to find some ideas for "Read Across America" Day as well!

Anyway, I tried to make Valentine's Day about loving OTHERS as much as possible this year. We made cookies last week for the neighbors, and also gave a plate to Clara's two childcare workers from our Wednesday morning Mom's Bible study we attend. (They are there every single week, faithfully, and they do a tremendous job with a big group of 2 and 3 year olds . . . not an easy task!) We made photo frames for Daddy, and the two Grandmas. We delivered lunch today to Papa Ben at Doanes, and passed out some heart stickers to the other employees there, with a "Happy Valentines Day" greeting.

Clara also got plenty of fun little V-Day things from all of us, too . . a cute book/stuffed animal set from Grandma Evie, a huge heart-shaped pillow from Grandma Bev, and a candy scavenger hunt this morning from mom and dad, plus getting to pick out a balloon at Papa's store! Tonight, we get to go to our Church small group and exchange valentines there with the other kids, and eat English Muffin pizzas and Ice Cream sundaes! We had so much fun this afternoon preparing her 11 Valentines for those kids . . I print off all the kids' names, and we glued them on the cards, then practiced writing her name on the "from" line. She did great with learning how to "read" some of those names, by looking at the first letter!

Since Clara is very into craft projects right now, we also did countless simple little V-Day crafts throughout the last few weeks. I love http://www.dltk-kids.com/ site, and have printed off a lot of simple craft templates all month for her to practice cutting and gluing with. We also did some lacing projects, made some v-day cards, and did a stained glass heart with contact paper and tissue paper squares!
Whew! When I write it all out that like, it sure looks like we did a ton of V-Day stuff! Like I said, holidays break up the year nicely for this Stay-At-Home-Mama. :) Oh, yeah, and I almost forgot what Jeremy did for me! I had just told him a few days before V-Day that I felt like we hadn't been talking much or praying much together lately, mostly due to just being exhausted at night after a day of work and with the kids. So, after our Bible study group, I came home to our room all set up with flowers, hot chocolate, and a devotion that he did with me. He then got down on his hands and knees and WASHED MY FEET, which was very touching and emotional for me, and then massaged them. Then, we just talked and prayed for a while. Best. Husband. Ever.

Would love to hear what others did on V-Day . . .
