I am nearing the end of the "easy" baby phase . . you know the part where they still can't move? Yep, coming to an end. Sav will now get across a room by rolling and scooting when we put her down. She also gets up onto all fours and rocks a little. Emma can roll both ways, but is just more content to lay there and hang out. They both like spending time in the exersaucer and big huge bouncy toy we have, and they like going out on walks in the double stroller with big sister . . . although it's hard to see their enthusiasm in the picture I have below. They love being tickled and played with, and they generally love Clara. :) They have recently noticed the dog, and love watching her tail.
Savannah is way more the "go-getter" and has a personality similar to Clara's at this age. She grabs for her toys, rolls more than Emma, and rolls over onto her tummy and sleeps better than emma at night. During the day, however, she doesn't seem to need as much daytime sleep. Sav now has two teeth that have popped through her bottom gums in the last two weeks! (Clara didn't get any teeth until 8.5 months, so Sav is way ahead of that)
Emma is our more laid-back girl. She has finally caught up to Sav in terms of the rolling over, but she just doesn't choose to as much. Sav likes to roll onto Emma and will even grab at her hair or face, and Emma just shrieks at her. Sometimes, though, they'll just hold hands when they're on the floor together, which is so cute. No teeth yet for Emma, but they're right there. Please pray for Emma, if you think about it . . . she is probably going to need a helmet to straighten out her flat head. We are going to try to get to Children's Hospital within the next month for a consulation for that. They both have a little bit of a flat head issue, but emma's is a lot worse, and it's not centered on the back of her head, so she looks pretty warped. Our pediatrician has told us that there is no structural damage, so it's up to us, and Jeremy and I are having visions of a 14 year old girl who is mad at us because her head is shaped weird . . . we don't want that on our conscious, so we're going to check into this. Maybe the next set of pics, she'll have a cute, little pink helmet on!
Neither of them are into baby food AT ALL. I started about 2 weeks ago, and am trying to be consistent with doing it at least once a day, but it's hard to be motivated as neither of them have any interest whatsoever. We've tried cereal, sweet potatoes, bananas, and today, squash. I have also tried giving them the oh-so-popular "biter biscuits" that Clara just gummed to death at this age and made a huge mess with, and neither of them will even try them. i touch them to their tongues, and they make this totally grossed out face. However, I'm not in any huge rush to move onto this new stage anyway, so I just try for a few minutes each day, and then we move on. They can stay babies a little while longer, in my opinion. :)
Here we are taking a walk in the brisk, autumn weather, with our new hats that Julie Ross made. Don't we look thrilled?
Sisterly love!
Savannah trying food. This is probably her spitting it out. i really should put a picture of each of them on here trying food, but the pictures of Emma look pretty much the same.
