Once again, I'm behind on posting about the babies . . . such is the life for the 2nd (and, in our case, 3rd) child . . . with Clara, I was posting so diligently pretty much on the 11th of every month, with lots and lots of cute pictures included! I don't even have any great new pictures of these two, either . . . but I promise, they are growing and are super duper cute!
They are changing so, so much lately, and doing "big baby" stuff: Sitting up in a side-by-side double stroller for walks, taking turns playing in the exersaucer we have, rolling over (yes, Emma just recently decided to join her sis with that trick .. finally!), taking baths in the big girl bath, smiling, cooing, laughing, and soon they will be eating! They are getting up around 7 a.m., all smiley and excited to see us, taking 2 good naps, and a shorter third one in the late p.m., and go to bed around 8 p.m. They each wake up a little at night, some nights are better than others. Lately, I have maybe had to feed Emma once at night to tide her over . . I think she's on a little growth spurt. I really think they are ready for cereal, but I'm committed to holding off until after our Hawaii trip.
Personalities are coming out a little more, and, to us, the babies look totally different. A few about them individually, because I like them each to have their own little update:
Emma Grace: We'll find out just how big she is in about 2 weeks, but, for now, she is our little rolly-polly one! She is at least 1 pound heavier, and I think an inch or so longer. She's easier to get smiling and laughing, and just generally more laid-back . . thus the later rolling over. (Although, the other day, she rolled over a few times from tummy to back, which Sav has yet to do, so she's beat her to that!) Having said that, she screams louder at night and generally wants me to come and give her a binky at least once throughout the night, whereas Sav rolls over and sleeps pretty soundly on her tummy.
Savannah Joy: She is a LOT like Clara was at this age . . . about the same size, doing pretty much the same stuff. She rolls over constantly, and if Emma is next to her, she'll roll over on top of her and claw at her face. (We felt so badly for poor Emma the other day . . she was NOT happy about that!) She now sleeps very well on her tummy. She smiles, coos, and laughs plenty for mama, but holds out a little more for others . . although she's coming around more for daddy. She really loves Clara, I think a little more than Emma does. I also think she may be getting a tooth on the bottom earlier than Emma will . . but don't quote me on that. It will probably still be a month or so.
All in all, these two are so, so, soooo good and cute and fun! Clara is enjoying them immensely, too. People ask me all the time how I do it . . . it has gotten a ton easier since those first 6-8 weeks of sleepless nights, and I know it will get a ton harder very soon when they start moving. For now, I tell people that the hardest part of having two babies is not being able to just strap them into a front pack and go chase the toddler around, like most moms with one baby get to do. I could use a front pack, but, why bother, because I'll still have a baby to contend with anyway. We don't go anywhere without the HUGE double stroller that our carseats fit into and has a spot for Clara. I will be VERY glad when we are done with it, as it is a BOAT and it attracts attention everywhere we go . . but I am also aware that, when we graduate out of it, it will be because the babies can't fit in their infant seats anymore, and that will bring with it a whole new set of challenges!
Taking it one day at a time . .
