Some things I wish would never end...

I am copying a friend, Shari, on a blog post she just did today that inspired me. In the middle of this busy season of life (yes, we have TWO crawlers now, and one who's new hobby is to pull up to standing with pretty much everything in the house) I was reminded by her today to stop for a minute and record some of the things that I just love about our little life right now. So, here are some things i just wish would never, never end:

1. Clara's "naked dance." We get to be amused by this twice a day, as she gets dressed in the a.m., and when pj's go on at night. She gets to be naked for anywhere from a minute to, oh, about 15 minutes tonight, and run around, dance, sing, and be silly. There's nothing cuter than a naked little toddler (actually, as of tomorrow, I'm not sure I can call her a "toddler" anymore . . ) dancing around with such joy.

2. Emma and Savannah's giggles: I love the cackling sound of an 8-month old baby when you tickle, tease and play with them. And we get the surround sound of it around here! Had Emma rolling with laughter tonight because she was trying to grab my necklace, and I kept grabbing her hand over and over again and saying very dramatically, "No, no . . not allowed!" and she just thought it was hilarious!

3. On that same note . . . the ease with which I can get Clara laughing uncontrollably: it doesn't take much, really. Just say something that she finds a little funny, and then do it over, and over, and over again, as per her request. The other night, after a bad fall that she'd had that required a trip to the doctor, I was telling her that maybe she could have ice cream for dinner, which she thought was very funny. I had to say "Ice cream for dinner? That's silly!" over and over again, as she just cackled and giggled. Sav thought it was really funny, too, and Emma laughed, just because everyone else was laughing!

4. Snuggles: My babies are in that stage where they are too fidgety to snuggle very often . . . when we're holding them, they are wiggling to get down and go destruct something. But, every once in a while, especially in the middle of the night or naptime, I can pick a crying one up and they'll lay their head on my shoulder and just sink in. Clara is in prime snuggling stage . . she wants to snuggle at least 2-3 times/day for as long as we have time to, until we have to go stop a baby from getting into trouble.

5. Watching Clara learn to "pretend." This has developed in the past few months, and it is now her preferred choice of playtime. She LOVES to pretend like I am the "kid" and she is the "mom" . . or any other role-playing she can come up with. So fun to see her creative wheels turning.

6. Babies being in their newborn carseats and STAYING STILL when I put them down: When the babies were born, we had a rough first 2 months. Then, it actually was pretty easy from about 2 months until around 7 months. I distinctly remember telling people, "It's not that bad right now, having two babies . . but it will get bad when they're moving, I'm sure." Yep. It's bad. Someone is going to get hurt soon . . . it might even be me. :) And I'm already in mourning about the day that I have to move them out of their infant car carriers, even though I seriously can barely carry both of them anywhere in them right now as it is. Our lives are going to get really hairy very, VERY soon. Pray for us, please. :)
