Three months and growing strong!

We have been so busy around here, making big decisions about our future and all (another blog on that later), that I have hardly taken any pictures of our cutie pies, and I am a week late in updating the blog for their 3 month birthday! However, in terms of pictures, I have to admit that I'm kind of waiting for them to do something . . . like roll over or laugh or something new. I feel like I have plenty of the "two babies, laying on a blanket, looking up at me" pictures." But, here is an update for myself and the babies' scrapbooks later on, about how they are doing at 3 months!

As I type this, Savannah is fussing and wanting to be held upstairs. We just got back from 2 nights in Seattle, and the girls were with Jeremy's parents. They got to sleep in their carseats pretty much the whole time, because, well, they sleep without a peep in those, as opposed to their cribs, where they wake up frequently, needing to be rewrapped or given a binky. These two babies are so easy and smiley and happy when they are awake, but they have definitely gotten to a yucky age in terms of sleeping. We let them sleep in their carseats for the first couple of months because they did better in there, and it was easier to feed them in the middle of the night and everything. Now, I am making the excuse that we are going to be in transition for the next month, so wherever they sleep through the night is fine with me. We'll see . . . I'm going to try to get them in their cribs more tomorrow for naps.

They are wanting more and more attention from us, and Savannah especially doesn't want to be out of the room from us. She can actually be pretty pleasant on not much daytime sleep some days, because she just wants to hang out in whatever room I am in. So, anyway, until two days ago, they were sleeping from about 9:00-7:00 with maybe just a few times of waking up, in their cribs, and taking three naps during the day, about 1.5 hours each. Between two babies, though, I do have to walk up and down my stairs several times during nap and "help" someone get back to sleep. I'm going to have legs and a butt of steel when I'm done with this stage!

They are eating 5 times/day right now, about 6 oz each time, which to me seems like a lot for this age, but I guess it's not. I am kind of looking forward to increasing that a little and having them go 4 hours and just have two set naps . . but that won't be for a few more months, and then i guess we'll have to add baby food, which I'm really NOT looking forward to with two babies.

In terms of personalities, I have a hard time really saying that one is significantly different than the other, because they both smile and coo at me equally . . . but Savannah definitely holds out more for everyone else. She seems to be a little more serious and needy than the laid-back, easy going Emma. Like right now . . . Emma is up there, trying to just relax and fall asleep, and Savannah is throwing a fit. Both of them love laying on the floor or on their activity mats, after a feeding, and smiling up at me or Jeremy. They love doing "pat-a-cake" and are almost giggling at it. They don't seem to show any interest in rolling over yet, and I'm pretty sure I remember Clara doing that at about 3.5 months, so we'll see if they do it pretty soon or not. They continue to be pretty happy babies most of the time, and love to be held, since those opportunities are few and far between! I thought this one was precious . . . they fell asleep like this on their activity mat one day
I hardly ever take individual pictures of them, and I know I need to . . . but it's hard later on to tell which one is which. I'm pretty sure this one is Emma, one warm evening, laying out in the backyard on a blanket.

. . . and here's Savannah, the same night

On the 4th of July, smiling girls!
P.S. Right after I wrote this, Savannah was still really fussing, so I took pity on her, went upstairs, and rocked her to sleep for a few minutes, and now I'm back to publish this. I so rarely do that, and now I'm thinking I need to more . . they are only 3 months old once, right?
