The big 30!

This past weekend, I turned 30! People have asked me if I feel old, or if I was dreading it or whatever, and I really don't feel that way. I think most of that is because I feel like I'm right where I always pictured myself at 30: A great husband, a great daughter, a beautiful house, good health, and a loving family. AND Jeremy and I are in the ministry together and ministering to foster kids, which isn't necessarily what I thought I'd be doing even a few years ago, but we are enjoying it and know that we are doing God's will. Being 30 isn't so bad! (Although I did wake up early that morning, after sleeping on the recliner for part of the night with a feverish Clara on top of me, and was quite stiff and sore, thinking, "Is this what 30 feels like?") :)

My super great husband threw a party for me on Saturday at our church. He invited lots of people, bought a ton of food, had babysitters lined up for kids (although, now that I think about it, none of the parents ended up taking advantage of them!) and even threw in a fun surprise of a pinata (I don't have that little Spanish squiggly line to put above the n) with Dora on it and had paper bags for all the kids to run and grab candy. Even though it was slightly embarrassing to have everyone looking at, pointing at, and laughing at me while I was swinging away at this pinata, (that the teenage helpers were pulling up at the last second, I found out later, to make it harder for me . . . I'll get you all back!) it was really fun and creative, and it was the highlight of the party. The "lowlight," if there is such a thing, is that Clara got sick with a fever the day before (Jeremy's birthday, actually . . . we went up to Southcenter for shopping and lunch at Claimjumpers, leaving the kids with a teenage babysitter, and came back to a sick Clara) and was REALLY not feeling well that whole day. She was dressed up all cute and had all this family and friends around, and she was crying and clinging to me the whole time. My mom and sister ended up bringing her home early, actually. But, other than that, the party was great and it was so nice to have so many people there to celebrate with! Thanks to everyone who came!
P.S. If you somehow did not get invited, please don't feel like it was intentional. Jeremy basically spread the word by mouth, and I don't think he got around to everyone. Woops. :)

Here are a few pictures from my dad's camera:

This picture is really in here because of the look on Braydon's face. Love. It.
Here's everyone laughing at me while I make a fool out of myself. Love you all.

Jeremy spinning me. Notice Clara crying, mostly due to being sick, but was she maybe also upset that I was using a big stick to beat on Dora's face? :)

Eating a few bites of lunch, with Clara attached to me.

My beautiful cake, made, of course, by Adeliz!
